NEW WORK 2026

Seconds in Clouds

24 + 25 April 2026

tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf

A floating light holds the space in quiet suspension. A breathing sound makes time audible. Bodies meet, intertwine, and gently release.

Alexandra Waierstall’s new work unfolds at the intersection of dance, sculpture, and space. Rita McBride’s sculpture Arena Seating is integrated into the choreographic field, becoming part of the dancers’ evolving constellations. Within an environment co-created with lighting designer Caty Olive and composer Volker Bertelmann, Seconds in Clouds invites the audience to sense how living together becomes perceptible through subtle, often fleeting moments of proximity, attention, and withdrawal.

New work 2026

What happens in the seconds that drift past like clouds–fleeting, and yet full of shape?

Seconds in Clouds is a mid-scale choreographic environment for theatres and museums in which time, bodies, light, and sculpture co-compose a shared space of attention, activating space as a living, breathing system.
